This study investigates the optimal management of water and energy resources within the Sefidroud irrigation and drainage network of Guilan province. Given the critical importance of these resources to agriculture, coupled with increasing water scarcity and rising food demands, there is a pressing need for a more integrated approach. A multi-objective optimization model incorporating uncertainty was developed for this research, aimed at minimizing agricultural water shortages while maximizing hydropower generation from the Sefidroud Dam. The model was solved using the NSGA-II algorithm, and the irrigation requirements for rice and tea were assessed through the water and soil balance method. Results reveal that water scarcity varies significantly across different confidence levels, with the central irrigation area experiencing the most pronounced shortages. Furthermore, rice cultivation especially during the months of June and July encounters more severe water shortages, while tea cultivation is not a particular problem in terms of water shortage. This research underscores the importance of optimal resource management and strategic planning to avert water shortages during critical periods. The findings have the potential to inform effective decision-making aimed at sustainable agricultural development.
